We're current on 3.0.x branch. After my research, 3.2.4 has way too
many changes and most importantly much more code refractoring.
Given that our long term plan is to go with Samba 4.0 base for SystemX
(which will require completely new interface to ONStor software), it's
less work going with 3.0.x branch.

The current stable release of samba (3.2.4) has fix for "Kerberos
authentication with (lib)smbclient". Not sure this fix will address the
Kerberos issue mentioned here.

Durai

Dear Team,

Here's the revised spec for Windows 2008 domain support.
Comments/questions are warmly welcome.

Sorry for the delay. I got really scared because the standard Samba
3.0.32 couldn't join kerberos domain. I found a bug because we do
not require DNS at the filer. whew. Also, the net getdomainsid doesn't
work as I expected :-(.

Here're answers to the following questions:

Jonathan> In section 4, is 3.0.21 really 3 years old? I thought we
upgrade more recently than that.
Yes, it is. There was never a project to rev up because Engineering has
always been busy
with other things :-(.

Sandrine> In Chapter 8, can you add more specifics about what QA will
need to test, like logon, enumeration, name to id mapping, etc...? what
tests will we need to run for Vista? I don't know which ones we don't
support right now.
I guess I'm gonna have to push back on this one :-). I dislike having
duplicate info.
I'd like to provide a link to the QA Test plans in the spec. We have
had many
discussions on testing Windows 2008 already.

Regarding Vista, there's nothing new that I know of that need additional
testing
(there are some difference at the protocol level between Vista and XP
for example). =20
New code was added to Samba code to "official" support Vista. There are
minor
changes in the NTLMv2 processing for Vista; however, this should be
totally
invisible to testing.
